WOMEN IN THE COFFEE INDUSTRY

Coffee, with its strong and bitter flavor, has long been associated with masculinity. Although this stereotype is outdated, in many rural areas, coffee is still perceived as a “man’s world.” In reality, women play a crucial role in the coffee industry, although their presence is often behind the scenes.

Coffee is not only enjoyed by men—many women are passionate coffee lovers too. In fact, looking at the upstream side of the coffee industry, many women work as farmers and processors. According to the International Coffee Organization, women make a significant contribution to the global coffee sector. Approximately 20–30% of coffee farms are managed by women, and over 70% of the labor force in the coffee industry consists of women.

These women are highly competent and deeply knowledgeable in every step of the coffee-making process—from planting to brewing the perfect cup. At Lady Farmer Coffee, 80% of our team members are women. We collaborate closely with female coffee farmers, empowering them through inclusive partnerships. Lady Farmer Coffee began from our CEO’s deep interest in coffee. Over time, it grew into a coffee processing and supplying company. Many women on our team are now able to support their families financially while also having the opportunity for personal growth and professional development.
